Search Quincy Criminal Records
Quincy criminal records are held by the Quincy District Court, the Norfolk County Superior Court, and the Massachusetts CORI system run by DCJIS. Whether you're looking up a case that went through court, requesting a police report, or trying to access background information tied to Quincy or Norfolk County, this page walks through each option and where to start.
Quincy Overview
Quincy District Court
The Quincy District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, and felony arraignments for Quincy and several nearby communities. If a case started in this area, it almost certainly came through this court first. The court is located at Dennis Ryan Parkway and serves Braintree, Cohasset, Holbrook, Milton, Quincy, Randolph, and Weymouth. That's a wide area, so the court handles a fairly large volume of cases.
You can visit the clerk's office to look up cases in person. Bring the name of the person you're searching or a case number if you have one. Staff can search the docket and tell you what's on file. Case records that are open to the public can be reviewed at the courthouse, and you can request copies for a fee.

Search Quincy Criminal Records Online
The state provides a free public docket search at masscourts.org. You can look up cases by name or case number and see charges, case status, and upcoming court dates. It covers both district and superior court records from across Massachusetts, including Quincy District Court and Norfolk County Superior Court.
The Massachusetts Trial Court also has a search tool at mass.gov. These free tools are useful for basic case lookups. They won't show sealed records, expunged records, or juvenile cases. And they're not the same as an official CORI background check — they just show what's in the public court record.
If you want a full official criminal history, you'll need to request a CORI report through DCJIS. That process is described in the section below. Most people check the free court search first to see if anything is on file before pursuing a formal CORI request.
Norfolk County Superior Court
Serious felony cases in Norfolk County are handled by the Superior Court in Dedham. When a Quincy case gets indicted by a grand jury, it moves from District Court to Superior Court. The Superior Court holds trials, takes pleas on major charges, and issues sentences in felony cases. Certified copies of case documents can be requested from the clerk's office in Dedham.

Dedham is about 10 miles from Quincy. Call the clerk's office before going to confirm the file you need is available and what format copies come in. Some documents require a written request submitted in advance.
CORI — Criminal Offender Record Information
CORI is Massachusetts' official criminal records system. DCJIS (the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services) runs it and processes all official requests. The CORI system covers arrests, charges, and case outcomes from courts across Massachusetts, including the Quincy District Court and Norfolk County Superior Court.
You have the right to request your own CORI at any time. The cost is $25, paid when you apply through iCORI online. If cost is a barrier, you can file an Affidavit of Indigency to request a fee waiver. The process is entirely online — you don't need to visit any office. DCJIS is based in Chelsea and handles requests from all of Massachusetts.
The CORI overview page on mass.gov explains what's included in a CORI report and how the request process works. For the law itself, CORI is defined under MGL c. 6 § 167. The CORI law page on mass.gov covers your rights and the rules around who can access your record.

Quincy Police Department Records
The Quincy Police Department keeps its own records that are separate from the courts. These include incident reports, arrest logs, and other police documents. To get a copy of a police report, you submit a public records request to the department. Requests for reports involving yourself can often be handled by visiting the department in person with a valid photo ID.

The department follows the Massachusetts Public Records Law and has 10 business days to respond to most requests. A records request form is available through the city's website.
Sealing and Expungement of Quincy Records
People with criminal records in Quincy or Norfolk County may be able to seal or expunge those records under Massachusetts law. These are two different remedies. Sealing takes the record out of the public-facing database but keeps it in the state system. Expungement removes the record entirely from official files.
Sealing is available under MGL c. 276 § 100A. Misdemeanors can be sealed three years after the case ends (or after incarceration or probation ends, whichever is later). For felonies, the wait is seven years. You file the petition at the court where the case was heard — for most Quincy cases, that's Quincy District Court. For superior court matters, the petition goes to Dedham. The clerk's office at either court can give you the forms and answer questions about the process.
Expungement is narrower. It's available under MGL c. 276 §§ 100E–100U, mainly for people who committed an offense before age 21 or in cases involving misidentification or fraud. A judge must approve it. The process is not fast, but it results in a permanent removal of the record from all official databases. If you need help, legal aid groups in Norfolk County or the Quincy Bar Association may offer guidance at no cost.
Norfolk County Sheriff
The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office operates the county jail and house of correction. If someone was held at the county facility and you need records related to their incarceration, that comes from the sheriff's office, not the court. These records are separate from the court docket and from CORI.

Sex Offender Registry
The Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB) maintains the public list of registered sex offenders in Massachusetts. The registry is separate from CORI and free to search at the SORB website. You can search by name or location. Level 2 and Level 3 offenders are publicly listed. Level 1 offenders don't appear in the public search. Results show the offender's address, photo, and offense details.
Victim Notification — VINE
VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free service for crime victims that tracks the custody status of offenders. You can sign up at vinelink.com and choose how you want to be notified — by phone, email, or text. Alerts go out when someone is released from custody, transferred, or escapes. The system covers Norfolk County correctional facilities and the state prison network.
